Where in the World?

Lisbon, Portugal

Capitola Girl's back from her mini-break from blogging, and just in time or Where in the World Wednesday.
This week, we take you to another inspiring place: Lisbon, Portugal. Lisbon is a gorgeous hillside that overlooks the Tagus River, and Mediterranean cruise ships use it as their a embarkation point.

There are monuments all along the Tagus River. The first that we saw was the Belem Tower, which is a 16th Century Gothic-style fortress that was built to protect the city from Spanish invaders. Another monument of note is the imposing statue of Cristo Rei, built in 1959. It's a smaller version of the Christ the Redeemer statue that makes is home in Brazil. The Cristo Rei in Lisbon stands 110 meters high. The Christo Rei is located in Almada, which is the other side of the Tagus River. The two are connected by a San Francisco style suspension bridge that incorporates the suspension style and color of the Golden Gate, as well as the double-decked roadway of the Bay Bridge. The Portugal version is called the "25 de Abril Bridge."

So anyway, back in Capitola I was thinking about statues and suspension, as well as how much the pale blue color of these glass pearls matched the Lisbon sky, so I beaded up a new pair of silver dangle earrings, which I have decided to call BIJOUTERIE DE LISBOA, which translates to Trinkets from Lisbon.

Happy Wednesday!

These earrings are adorable. AND, I am so jealous of your excursion. Not that I do not LOVE Canada, but occasionally I think it would be nice to live in Europe where foreign adventures are just a hop, skip and a jump away.

Oh I'm jealous too! My husband's been to Lisbon and says it's wonderful there. I'm also from Canada and I'm not complaining about living here either!

I really like your interpretation of Lisbon in your Trinkets of Lisbon earrings... especially the hammered loop at the top. Very unique!!
