Who Sparkled this Saturday?
Agnes Keh from Art Faerie
Spring Fever is in full swing! The grass is green, the tulips and daffodils we’ve planted are now blooming, and speaking of Daffodils, have you seen this fabulously fun pair of PINK DAFFODIL FUN Dangle Earrings? They were created by Agnes Keh from Art Faerie in Singapore.
I first became acquainted with Agnes’ jewelry work in January when she became a member of my HANDMADE JEWELRY: SATURDAY SPARKLE group on Flickr. All I could think was how much I loved her pieces. Her design style is uniquely modern, bright and cheerful. Her eye for color is also impeccable. I think Agnes' creativity is quite amazing, and her jewelry designs consistently put a smile on my face. I also find her choices in bead placement and arrangement are wonderful and balanced, and reflective of her love for making fun jewelry wth a focus on quality. I’m very proud to have the opportunity to share her designs with you today on Saturday Sparkle.
Agnes' created today’s PINK DAFFODIL FUN Dangle Earrings above with sterling silver spacer beads, sterling silver chains, sterling silver ear wires and findings, and Swarovski crystals. She's also recently designed a wonderful matching necklace, which you will see later, as you scroll down the page. I think they are fabulous, and a perfect set to showcase as we kick off the Spring season! She's even got some similar designs in alternate colors.
Agnes started making simple jewelry for herself in 1999, she began using large hole beads & leather cords and began making jewelry more seriously in 2002, after she quit her job at her husband's company. I had the pleasure of interviewing Agnes a few weeks ago, and here is what she shared with us.
Agnes, what inspired you to turn your jewelry making into a business?
My passion for jewelry making!! I enjoy creating pretty little things since young, playing with colors and have always loved jewelry. When I came across jewelry making, I love and enjoy the process from sourcing of materials to putting different colors of beads together and turn them into a piece of beautiful wearable art!
When creating a design, what are your top three sources of inspiration?
The beads themselves! Either the fantastic natural stones from our mother of nature or wonderful creations of bead artists! Beside the beads, the beauty of nature, four seasons, flowers, butterflies and so on. Other artists' work inspired me to try new techniques or different approaches as well.
You make such fun, colorful jewelry with Art Beads. What is it that draws you to art beads?
I love art beads since the amazing details, interesting and unique feature of fine art beads give my jewelry a special touch! I love holding them in my hands, admiring the beauty, thinking about the design potential and working these little treasures into pieces of unique and fun jewelry.
Who provides you with the greatest support for your jewelry making?
I would like to thank you my husband and sisters for supporting my jewelry making. Although my husband does not think highly of jewelry making, he has not stopped me from day one but gives me his helping hand just when I needed. My sisters love my creations and enjoy wearing them!
Agnes, I'm so glad that you graciously allowed me to share your jewelry creations with my audience today! And readers, please stop by Agnes' Art Faerie jewelry shop today by visiting:
