Make Me! Monday: Metrics, Traffic, Metrics

I usually write about the beads that were screaming "Make Me" over the weekend, but this week, I thought I'd give you a little insight into the blog-side of the beading thing. Before I opened my online shop, I blogged mainly for the purpose of sharing stuff with family and friends that don't live near me. After opening my online shop, I jumped onto the Etsy blog wagon and started taking my blogging a little more seriously since January 2008. Since I'm a geek girl with a love for the Internet in my heart, I like to track my blog stats. I wanted to see metrics that reflected whether all of my efforts are progressing in an upwards or downwards direction.

(Happy to report, UPwards direction)

About three months ago, I discovered Quantcast, which is a free media measurement service that lets you view audience reports on millions of websites and services. I decided to sign my blog, network, and website up for Quantcast's Quantified Publisher program, which gave me the ability to tag my blog for direct measurement. I'm so happy I did. Not only is the service free, it lets you gauge the reach, frequency, and popularity of your blog or website. Now, I'm no statistician, but I will say I've been very happy with the metrics provided by the Quantcast service. And from the chart, it would appear that my blog's been getting happier by the day too!

Happy Monday!

About This Blog

This blog first started as a way to share the inspiration behind jewelry making with family and friends. Next thing you know, my blogging became a hobby--complete with a logo!

In my not-so-virtual-reality, I'm a freelance technical and marketing communications consultant who spends her time doing geeky things in the high-tech industry. But my real fun comes from making jewelry, which you can find in my Etsy shop at: http://capitolagirl.etsy.com
