Join the Capitola Girl's Jewelry Network

http://capitolagirls.ning.com

Like many creative people, I have dreams. And, one of them was to create a space for independent jewelry designers to network, trade tips, talk about their experiences, and to support and encourage others to keep their creative dreams alive.

With that goal in mind, I created a jewelry network for independent designers using Ning. For those of you who are not familiar with Ning, its an online service where you can create, customize, and share your own Social Network.

Although my vision for the Capitola Girl's Jewelry Network is still young, I created it with these hopes and goals in mind. I want the Capitola Girl's Jewelry Network to be:
  • A place where independent jewelry artists become members with the intent to network and share, not just to promote and sell.
  • A place where artists with more experience are willing to mentor, inspire, and encourage hobby artists to follow the dreams in their creative hearts.
  • A place where members with small businesses reach out to support and encourage members to ask questions about how to get their creative hopes off the ground.
  • A place for members to share tips, techniques, and lessons learned about the art of jewelry design.
  • A place that celebrates and encourages the creativity of others in healthy, positive, and supportive way. Continued membership requires a positive attitude and spirit of sharing.
  • My other hope is that the network may one day become place that eventually offers members with opportunities to gain exposure, opportunities, and recognition in their field.

How to Join the Network
Visit the Capitola Girl Jewelry Network and click the Sign Up link. Enter some basic information about yourself and your jewelry design background. Then, submit your profile to the network for approval. Once your profile is approved, you will receive an e-mail at the address that you used to sign up, and then you can begin creating your Profile Page for the network. To get the most out of the network, I also encourage you to join one or more of the existing Web Groups.

To be approved as a network member, you must be an independent jewelry designer.

Come Join a Web Group
I have created a variety of special interest groups for Metal Jewelry Makers, Beadweavers, Bead Stringers, Ceramic Jewelry Arts, Fiber Jewelry Arts, and more. And, as I'm getting the network off the ground, I am looking for independent jewelry artists who are willing to provide photographs of their jewelry arts to use as group icons. The first member to join each open group is eligible to submit a picture for use as the group logo and will credited as the artist for the group logo on the Group home page. The credit will include a link to your shop and/or blog page.

Hope to see you there!

About This Blog

This blog first started as a way to share the inspiration behind jewelry making with family and friends. Next thing you know, my blogging became a hobby--complete with a logo!

In my not-so-virtual-reality, I'm a freelance technical and marketing communications consultant who spends her time doing geeky things in the high-tech industry. But my real fun comes from making jewelry, which you can find in my Etsy shop at: http://capitolagirl.etsy.com
