Friday Findings: Shimmering Baubles for Stormy Days Ahead
>> Friday, February 22, 2008
What's this Week's Friday Find?
It's A Fashionable Weather Forecast:
There are Shimmering Baubles for the Stormy Days Ahead!
As the saying goes, March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. But, it’s still February and it’s been raining cats and dogs in Capitola Girl’s town. With that said, I couldn’t wait for March to write this post. I am a jewelry girl, so it’s important to be fashionably prepared to battle the rainy day blues. I wanted to do that before we reach the next stormy month.
So, what’s my prediction for the coming days? There are shimmering baubles for the stormy days ahead! And, while we might not be able to avoid cloudy skies, today’s storm-themed jewelry showcase will not only warm your spirits; it’ll keep the roar of the March lion at a manageable (and fashionable) level.

GREY SKIES EARRINGS
from Yuphina Koh Qy

As the clouds start rolling in, the skies are expected to go grey on us, but at least this month, the grey will be simple and elegant. Wondering how this can be? Well, check out these smoky quartz and silver plated GREY SKIES earrings from Yuphina Koh Qy in Singapore. Yuphina is in the process of creating her jewelry website, so in the meantime, check out her jewelry designs on Flickr.
BLACK SKIES NECKLACE
from KateyDesigns

Slightly before the rain starts to fall, we expect our grey skies to go darker. But, you won’t be standing in fashion darkness if you’re wearing this onyx, quartz, and Swarovski crystal BLACK SKIES necklace on Greek leather. The necklace was created by Kathryn Durham at KateyDesign, who is based in Connecticut. Her pieces can be found online at http://kateydesigns.blogspot.com, http://www.kateydesigns.com, and http://kateydesigns.etsy.com.
RAINDROPS BRACELET
from Sydney Austin Designs
For those in rainier climates, temperatures are predicted to rise after the first few raindrops fall. So this month we suggest that, instead of parka, you warm yourself with the beautiful red and blue colors of this RAINDROPS LAMPWORK CHARM BRACELET from Robyn Wren Bourne of Sydney Austin Designs in Greensboro, NC. Robyn’s design uses handmade lamp work beads, turquoise, Swarovski crystals, faceted ruby quartz, coral, amethyst, chalcedony and larimar. After putting together this forecast today, the stormy weather has me dreaming of blue skies again. Apparently, Judy Kaplan from Silver Dot Jewelry in Seattle has had similar thoughts. What in Silver Dot’s forecast? Well, you can perk up the rainiest of Seattle days with these beautiful BLUE SKY DREAM earrings made of white opal sky-blue Swarvoski crystals, brown faceted freshwater pearls; Karen Hill Tribes Thai silver beads, sterling silver ear wires and bead caps.
