Thursday Thoughts: The Color of Love
Today's musing are about being new to selling jewelry online, booking my first Etsy showcase, and to show you one of the featured pieces for the showcase, a necklace called the Color of Love.
Since I'm new to the world of selling jewelry online, I did what many new independent jewelry artists do and listed a few pieces on Etsy in a sort of hodge-podge style. And as a by-product of becoming an online seller, I find myself learning that in order to promote myself as an online seller there is an ever-growing list of unexpected skills needing to be developed. This includes things like becoming a prolific blogger, expert macro photographer, avid joiner of social networks, featured artist spot writer, and web site designer. Fortunately, my professional background in technical and marketing communications afforded me a basic familiarity with most of these skills, except the macro photography part. It's been fun so far.
Yesterday, I was out in my yard photographing my pieces for my upcoming Valentine's Day Showcase on Etsy. The picture below is the first piece, and the red crystal necklace that started the ball rolling for the idea of booking a Showcase spot. It's approximately 18" in length and features red crytal from China, clear glass rounds and beautiful red seed bead balls, accented by these gorgeous sterling silver rondelle caps that give the necklace a vintage look.
In the process of dreaming up ways to create an attractive and eye-catching photographs, I saw that my Yellow Europs in my garden were in bloom, so I immediately held the necklace in front of it and thought of this American folklore rhyme:
"Red and Yellow Catch a Fellow
Pink and Blue, He'll Catch You..."
Then, I snapped this shot...I got the red and yellow part OK...
You can see other pictures of this on my Etsy shop:

Anywho. That's all for today. Stay tuned and be "En Garde!" tomorrow for special featured artist on Friday Findings!
