Make Me Monday: Red is Fun!

On Mondays, I write about the beads that were screaming "Make Me!" over the weekend. This week, the beads that were wanting to be made into something were red. I had received a new shipment of beads in last week, and I had ordered a bunch of red fire polish beads. I've been wanting to make some Valentine's Day jewelry and to experiment with a color that, up until now, I have hardly used in my jewelry.

Historically, red has been a color that (for me) is sometimes challenging to work with. I'm always afraid that it will be too bright, too bold, or too much. But, after cranking out about five new red necklaces this weekend, I've decided that working with red beads is fun.

The choker length necklace above is one of the red fire polish beaded creations, that I accented with white mother of pearl tubes, orange and silver seed beads, and red african bone. I named in the "FUN LOVE" choker, because I now think red is so fun! There are more pictures of this necklace at my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9059848

About This Blog

This blog first started as a way to share the inspiration behind jewelry making with family and friends. Next thing you know, my blogging became a hobby--complete with a logo!

In my not-so-virtual-reality, I'm a freelance technical and marketing communications consultant who spends her time doing geeky things in the high-tech industry. But my real fun comes from making jewelry, which you can find in my Etsy shop at: http://capitolagirl.etsy.com
