The Science and Nature of Miracles
Every once in awhile, Capitola Girl gets inspired by nature and science, particularly when she starts stringing new beaded creations. This beautiful set features a necklace of 9mm natural fancy jasper pebbles, 6mm oval miracle beads, and carved African bone beads. It also has coordinating jasper and miracle bead earrings.
Capitola Girl has told you about jasper before, but she thinks the Miracle Bead also has an interesting story. Miracle beads are made with a lucite core. Lucite is one of the first acrylic-based plastics invented by the DuPont Corporation in 1931. The lucite is then covered with silver plating, and followed up with several layers of colored lacquer. The result truly is a miracle of science and nature. The silver plate acts as a mirror, and reflects back a shimmering, radiant light. Capitola Girl loves the look of miracle beads, and so might you.

About This Blog

This blog first started as a way to share the inspiration behind jewelry making with family and friends. Next thing you know, my blogging became a hobby--complete with a logo!

In my not-so-virtual-reality, I'm a freelance technical and marketing communications consultant who spends her time doing geeky things in the high-tech industry. But my real fun comes from making jewelry, which you can find in my Etsy shop at: http://capitolagirl.etsy.com
