Pulling Mussels from a Shell
Lazing about the beach all day, At night the crickets creepy Squinting faces at the sky A Harold Robbins paperback Surfers drop their boards and dry And everybody wants a hat
But behind the Chalet My holiday's complete And I feel like William Tell Maid Marian on her tiptoed feet Pulling mussels from a shell -- Squeeze
When Capitola Girl was too cool for school, she used to spend summer days at Marine Street Beach in La Jolla. It was a carefree time in her life, and this Squeeze song from the 80's always reminds her of those days, and the random cross-section of people that you meet when you grow up in a picture postcard seaside town.
Capitola Girl made this abalone, freshwater and glass pearl necklace set because she loves the randomness of events and people. She loves when new people breeze through her little beach town from time to time, even if they end up talking for an hour, a minute, or a day. There are a lot of nice people everywhere, but something about the beach makes people seem especially nice. Here at the beach, life really is what you make of it and so instead of spreading pearls of wisdom, she's wearing them today. It's a bright sunny monring here in this beach town, and Capitola Girl's gonna spend another day in paradise doing nothing, except pulling mussels from a shell.
