The Earthquake Necklace

The initial excitement of the 5.6 Earthquake in Northern California tonight has passed. And being something of a computer geek, Capitola Girl was really impressed to see how much faster it is to get information on Blogs than from the News. The number of earthquake postings that popped up on Google Blogs in the last hour and a half have been astounding. But, since its getting late, Capitola Girl thought she'd finish the day writing about necklaces instead of earthquakes.

This is an uber-chunky yellow quartz and yellow opal necklace that Capitola Girl made several days ago. Capitola Girl has been pondering the story of this necklace, and tonight gave her the perfect opportunity to name it. Quartz is the second most common mineral in the earth's crust, and since the earth's crust was shaking in California tonight, she thought she'd name it The Earthquake Necklace. Happy Shaking!

About This Blog

This blog first started as a way to share the inspiration behind jewelry making with family and friends. Next thing you know, my blogging became a hobby--complete with a logo!

In my not-so-virtual-reality, I'm a freelance technical and marketing communications consultant who spends her time doing geeky things in the high-tech industry. But my real fun comes from making jewelry, which you can find in my Etsy shop at: http://capitolagirl.etsy.com
