Australian Mookaite and Brown Pearl Necklace

After much exploration of the matter, Capitola Girl has found the "good oil" on this pretty little gemstone called Mookaite. The stone gets its name from the place where it was first discovered and claimed -- Mooka Station, a Jumbuck (sheep) Grazing area in Western Australia. Mookaite is a form of jasper with vibrant colors ranging from brown and burgundy to purple and yellow. By the by, the colors are naturally varied due to its respective levels of iron deposits. Gemstore lore also purports that Mookaite is an aboriginal healing stone that provides its wearer with emotional protection.

Aside from the fact that its colors are beautiful and that Mookaite now has Capitola Girl throwing a wobbly, the spiffy sheila that ends up wearing this necklace can be assured that she will be grounded and open to a variety of new experiences! G'day Mates and catch ya at the Billabong!

About This Blog

This blog first started as a way to share the inspiration behind jewelry making with family and friends. Next thing you know, my blogging became a hobby--complete with a logo!

In my not-so-virtual-reality, I'm a freelance technical and marketing communications consultant who spends her time doing geeky things in the high-tech industry. But my real fun comes from making jewelry, which you can find in my Etsy shop at: http://capitolagirl.etsy.com
